Impeach

Throw the governor under the wheels

by: Ellis Goldberg

Sun Jun 21, 2009 at 09:50:38 AM PDT

The governor can be impeached for "misconduct in office" by the State Assembly and removed by a two-thirds vote of the State Senate.

With the Party of No driving the bus called California toward bankruptcy and major grief; it is time to throw the Governor under the wheels. A simple majority in the California Assembly could charge the Governor with "misconduct in office" because he can not convince his own party to apply the brakes and won't apply them himself. The Governor's misconduct includes throwing our kids, the most needy and worthy under the bus.

Once charged in the Assembly the Governor would be relieved of duties until the Senate votes on impeachment. During that time the Lieutenant Governor may sign legislation that the Governor refused to sign and start applying the brakes to the bus and mitigating some of the grief.

The meaning of last months vote was that Californians want the legislature to take control of this out of control situation. This is the way to do just that. It is time for our elected officials to throw the Governor under the wheels and get a new driver.
Assemblymembers are encouraged to think out of the box, the rest of us should encourage them.

I meant to post something about this, but well, I forgot.  Sorry!  However, about 1200 souls made it out to form "IMPEACH!" on Ocean Beach in San Francisco yesterday. SF Chron link here.  San Francisco values I suppose. :)
