Ohhhh, We Sure Could Use John Edwards Now

by: genestillman

Wed Apr 30, 2008 at 01:44:59 AM PDT

The first thing I want to say is that I am nothing special nor more intelligent then anyone else.  The one thing that I am is an independent thinker who analyzes a situation and acts based upon what I feel is best, as opposed to acting based upon being part of an "in-group", the "first-group", the "cool-group", the "trend-setting group", or jumping on a bandwagon.  By the way, how many of you saw Robin Williams on Law & Order this evening and the commentary on "sheep" mentality in America?

I have been greatly disappointed in the future of the United States, generally, and each of us, specifically, since John Edwards (the adult wing of the Democratic Party) dropped out of the Presidential race.  I last and only posted on January 30, 2008 re "Unity Will Flow Naturally From Integrity & Credibility" and  on January 21, 2008 re "The Country Needs John Edwards To Stay In The Race All The Way To The Nomination".  I never intended to post again since it took 25+ years since my disgust with the Democratic Party following the 1980 Presidential Campaign and the defeat of my candidate of choice in the Wisconsin Primary, Jerry Brown, until this past year when the leadership ideas, backbone strength, and bold courage of John Edwards got me excited again in a President and the Democratic Party for the first time since 1980.  However, the recent sequence of events caused me to be unable to stay silent and to at least make a record that I did my part and tried.  I know that there are many other JRE supporters who feel as I do.

A Woman President Yes, Just not this Woman!

by: tadviv

Tue Jan 22, 2008 at 15:48:14 PM PST

The Hillary we saw last night was pretty weak
Throwing Punches to see them return and punch herself in the nose.

Throwing out the only thing she has left for dirt on Obama, that he spent 5 hours of work on a realestate deal for a member of a church group that he was assigned to in Chicago.

The Chicago sun times has looked into this and reported over and over again, but the dirt falls off.
And the national media has investigated these allegations and find nothing that supports Hillary's claims.

So this is the same ole same ole... search and destroy that Hillary has been attempting since IOWA.
First it was the $850,000.from Bundler Norman Hsu with ties to Johnny Chung and the Chinese military.....
Shades of Bill Clinton renting of the Lincoln bedroom.
Oh!!! Please not again...

After that Fiasco faded and Hsu was brought to Justice we watched donations come in for $2300.00 from dishwashers, maids and cooks in New York.
These people make minimum wage in most cases and the 2300.00 dollars would constitute 10% of their yearly salary... Smells kinda fishy!!!

Next we have the stumble in the debate, where the Fearless leader was asked direct questions.... but would not answer.
Google the 2nd debate.

And the Sunday talk show circuit, 5 national shows, all the same questions - pre arranged. With the same Answers ( except for Chris Wallace, bless his heart he did ask 1 intelligent question not on the cards)
So far in this Primary season, we have had the Media annoint Hillary Clinton, that blew up when she was caught 3 times in IOWA with Shills in the crowds asking her pre arranged questions.

Hillary starts the Leak and destroy campaign against Edwards and Obama..... It doesn't work.
Bob Novack Republican operative is toast!

Hillary' leaks that she has breaking news about major dirt on Obama.   This comes back to bite your highness in the arse when it doesn't materialize. CNN Wolfe Blitzer gets up off his knee's and put's his tounge back into his mouth as Hillary withdraws her boots.

Hillary loses IOWA, her Press secretary says, Iowa wasn't important, "It was like running for mayor of a small Village"

This hurts the IOWA Electorate! What a way to treat the people that voted for you!

Disenfranchising the voters, the Unions, the Blacks and all other Democrat's in the party has got to be her favorite pasttime.

We now go to New Hampshire and watch as state Democratic leaders tear each other apart, get yelled at by Hillary operatives and Bill.

Questions still linger in how many neighbor states drove over from organizations to vote for Hillary, leading a lot of Democrat's to believe that the Clinton Machine is well oiled.    ... Hillary wins, proving Pollsters wrong.

Next we see Hillary Hillary pit Union against Union, Member against member, because she did not like the Culinary Union supporting her opponent......

Yet Hillary Clinton and staff worked toward getting the Rule on the books for the Culinary workers just 12 months earlier.

"This is in addition to the Clinton campaign's efforts to confuse voters and call into question the at-large caucus sites which clearly had an affect on turnout at these locations," said Plouffe. "These kinds of Clinton campaign tactics were part of an entire week's worth of false, divisive, attacks designed to mislead caucus-goers and discredit the caucus itself."

Hillary, Maya's Poem and the NH Primary

by: NewHampster

Sun Jan 20, 2008 at 11:59:18 AM PST

Cross posted from Daily Kos with the permission of the author, masslib.

The Observer Unlimited reports Maya Angelou has recently penned a poem for Hillary Clinton.  For those of you who do not know, Maya Angelou is a renowned poetess and author of National Book Award winner, autobiographical novel, I know why the caged bird sings .  The poem borrows from an earlier work of Ms. Angelou, her iconic classic, Still I Rise .  Hillary can take great honor in Maya's use of the imagery of that poem as it is an important work, and indicative of her great love for Hillary that she made her "family" in her heart that way.  Maya's poem really struck a chord with me after my experience volunteering for Hillary in Southern NH, and I would guess it was written in that time period.  I was campaigning for Hillary from hours before she lost Iowa until hours before she won NH.  My story and the poem below the fold.

Mary is in labor and the republicans fear the Gender Card

by: NewHampster

Tue Jan 15, 2008 at 17:04:23 PM PST

Cross posted from my daily kos diary with my permission.

Yes, I'm here to tell you (oh no it's not PC), that this race is about gender.  If you don't want to hear my analysis then please go elsewhere rather than shooting me for something you haven't even read.  I mean, why read when you can just blast away at the nasty, woman supporting hillbot who is playing that gender card thing?

Frankenoid at dKos did a hilarious great job giving us the inside scoop on Mary's labor woes.

But Mary Mother of Jesus and Virgin Wife of Joseph is not who the republican's fear.

They fear the lowly, Mary Magdalene.

They know that the day a woman is nominated for President millions upon millions upon millions of Marys will register to vote for the first time in their lives.

HRC re-deux

by: pservelle

Thu Oct 04, 2007 at 00:36:05 AM PDT

Here is an oxymoron for you: MSM and objective political reporters. Has anyone reserved judgment on the significance of the 3rd qtr story until a side by side comparison can be conducted? For instance, what about the re-focus of the Hillraisers not on bundling money but bundling contributors so as to boost those numbers. And using that as a smoke screen, line up all the lobbyist/special interest on one side of the school multi-purpose room with their Hillraisers across the room with chilled champagne (imported, but of course) and truffles (the real stuff?); let the pairing off begin.

Would you rather win or govern

  Isn't it amazing
The Obama Campaign & Movement

Posted 9/20/2007 5:25 PM
HRC is on the record on this one. No qualifiers or disclaimers. Pure and straigt forward. "I am in this race to win" she declared in her announcement of her candidacy. Given the licking of lips over in the grand old party, it is hard to imagine either the willingness or even feasibility that governing will be an option were she fulfill her committment to winning.

Obama comes at the question from the other perspective. If governing is not possible, what is the point of winning. That is why his campaign continues with the same message that it started with. It is time to turn the page; is it time to come together for the common good.

Which message do you think is reasonating outside the "beltway"? You don't need to be a rocket scientist to know the answer. Do you?

Live Blogging the Hillary Press Conference

by: Jenifer Fernandez Ancona

Sat Apr 28, 2007 at 14:28:11 PM PDT

I have come full circle, I said to the reporter sitting next to me, as we awaited Sen. Clinton's arrival at a press conference following her convention floor speech. I was once a scrappy reporter who would have killed to have the status and stature to be covering a Presidential campaign. Who would have thought that my entry into that room would be as a blogger and political activist! This is why I love new media. Well, one of the reasons!

I took notes during the press conference, which was amazing -- to be sitting 10 feet from Hillary as she fielded questions from reporters and bloggers alike. I've got to go back down to the floor to help move people for Pelosi's speech (her office asked us as good San Franciscans to volunteer), so I don't have time to write them up, but join me on the flip for my bullet-pointed notes:

1984 Flashbacks

by: Jenifer Fernandez Ancona

Sat Apr 28, 2007 at 10:48:37 AM PDT

(more Hillary speech coverage. - promoted by juls)

I hate to say this, but seeing Hillary up on the big screen at the CDP convention is totally giving me flashbacks to the now infamous 1984 parody ad.

I say this not to be mean, but just to marvel at the impact of this new media environment. I saw that ad probably a dozen times, between getting it passed around by friends and the media coverage it received. I realize that most people who see Hillary will speak will see her on that big screen, and it will evoke the negative imagery of "Vote Different," which just says how brilliant that particular hit piece was.

So far I am not wowed by Hillary's speech, and I would say the reaction of the crowd is tepid at best. The highlight: she talked about immigration reform and wanting to "bring people from the shadows." The lowlight: The whole "you are invisible" refrain is really not working for me.

About to go to a press conference with her now, which should be really interesting!

Nevada 2008 primary Firewall

by: jncamane

Wed Nov 01, 2006 at 15:17:27 PM PST

DLC hacks continue to tow the gop line.  Hillary's comments on Sen. Kerry's botched joke today really upset me.  That combined with Tauscher's remarks froma few days ago have motivated me to suggest that California Bloggers unite to give the conservative dems hell when they come out to campaign in Nevada.  I invite others to suggest what California Bloggers can do to filter out the corporate-power Worshippers.
