Dodd's Turn

by: Lucas O'Connor

Sat Apr 28, 2007 at 15:11:01 PM PDT

Way different than Clinton and Obama.  No tour through the crowd, just straight from the wings to the mic.  I don't think anyone even really listened to the intro that Torres just gave him.  Everyone's still coming down from Obama...tough draw for Chris Dodd.  Let's see what he has in store...

we'd the cameras go? (0.00 / 0)
The video riser went from 30 cameras to 3 -- don't think Dodd's going to get much play.

like there was an Obama press availability to go to.

Cause this is kinda becoming social hour, which is too bad.  It seems like a pretty good speech.  He's got the fire, he's ready to make changes.  The folks who are paying attention are digging it.  There just aren't enough paying attention.  Tough to imagine any traction here.

I feel sorry for Dodd (0.00 / 0)
this is really tough.  He's speaking well.  But we're all still analyzing Obama.  Nothing he can really do.  So hard to gain traction.  But I'll be interviewing him at 5 today.

"I remember a time when we ended wars, not start them. I remember when we condemned torture, not condone it."

He also got me when he said he joined the peace corps because the American president asked him to.

He's good and he's getting applause but there's no excitement here. As Lucas said, we're still coming down from Obama.

I think that would've been a great speech.  Better than Clinton (though she probably got what she wanted), not sure what was really missing except the right timing.  People liked what they heard, but I don't know if he really differentiated himself.  Part Clinton, part Obama, not better than either of them overall, at least to their respective supporters.

I'm proud to work for Barbara Boxer
