I am gonna get a little meta on you for a bit. Our progressive infrastructure is puny. Our blog infrastructure is even worse. To put it bluntly, I have blogger friends contemplating getting jobs at malls because there is no way for them to make a living doing what they are good and effective at. We have been waiting around way too long for angel investors to come swooping in and fund what many have been pouring thousands of hours and dollars into on a volunteer basis.
We need to start doing a better job of taking care of our own. If we can raise millions of dollars of candidates, we can raise a fraction of that for the salaries and health care of our bloggers.
This is a larger problem that we as a movement need to address. In the short term, Matt Stoller has a plea up from BlogPAC so they can help literally pay people's rent and build a 50 state network. I have chipped in a few bucks of my own, even though my own employment status is not exactly solid. I have done so every time they have come asking. I am asking you to put in whatever you can to help pay for our movement. Someday down the road we may ask you to do the same here at Calitics.
