SD 34 Update: Lou Correa Expands His Lead to 783 Votes!

(Check out Andrew's blog too! - promoted by SFBrianCL)

Now, according to the OC Registrar, Lou Correa has widened his lead to 783 votes! Wow, this will be a steep hill for Lynn Daucher to climb as the Registrar is nearly finished coutning all votes in the 34th State Senate District. Well, what can I say? I guess this wasn't as much of a "lock for Lynn" as all the right-wing bloggers were expecting!

STATE SENATOR, 34th District
Completed Precincts: 377 of 377
  Vote Count  Percentage
LOU CORREA (DEM)  55147  50.0%
LYNN DAUCHER (REP)  54364  49.2%
OTTO BADE  899 0.8%

Andrew Davey (atdleft) :: SD 34 Update: Lou Correa Expands His Lead to 783 Votes!
This has been such an emotional roller-coaster for me! Once again, I've been at the Registrar to observe the vote count with the OC Democrats. Fortunately, most of the provisional ballots are being counted, and just as everyone was hoping for, Lou has been winning in the provisional count. However, none of us expected him to be performing this strongly!

Certainly, I am very heartwarmed to see that all our efforts to reach out to voters before the election finally seem to be paying off! Thanks to all the Lou Correa volunteers who helped get out the Democratic vote in Central Orange County, we have a (good) chance of holding onto this crucial State Senate seat. Hopefully if this trend continues, the OC GOP will have to kiss their "one State Senate pickup" goodbye! : )

UPDATE: This race really is almost over now! (0.00 / 0)
According to Total Buzz, OC Registrar Neal Kelley is now saying that the Registrar's office only has about 1,000 ballots left to count for SD 34. Lynn Daucher would have to win 90% of those remaining votes to overtake Lou's lead now. Whew, so I guess I can finally start planning to make sure that "Senator Lou Correa" has an easier time in 2010! ; )
