Well, the Speaker isn't very pleased:

Speaker Perez missed an opportunity (5.00 / 1)
The budget he passed included many odious things, including the Schwartzenegger plan to sell off State Parks.  WTF?

The Democrats in the Assembly and Senate were given a free pass to present a "wish list" budget, a totally Democratic budget, one which could inspire our constituencies, educate the public about the myriad budget choices outside of Repub talking points rhetoric, and establish our priorities for the public to understand.  Instead, we got a capitulation budget which violated our principles as a Party.

Jerry Brown was right to veto the budget Perez approved. We have to do better, we have to set out our principles, we have to inspire our base.  It is crunch time for the State, so I think we should get our people fired up and get ready to battle for what we believe in.

The Budget (5.00 / 1)
No one was very pleased with the budget our nonfunctional Legislature produced!  This budget was the same old same old. Brown is probably the wisest and most focused man in Sacramento.  Let's all urge him to follow his instincts to bring an end to this very stale stalemate.

To be honest (4.00 / 1)
I am having a hard time seeing Brown as any sort of wise man at this point.  He has been basically conceding to the austerity logic from the moment he took office, has refused to concretely spell out what it will cost the people of the state if even more cuts (beyond the many that have already taken place) are imposed, is allowing the Republicans to appear reasonable in their demands if unreasonable in their unwillingness to let him get to the polls, and by vetoing the bill right out of the box he may have asserted his dominance but he removed the ability to threaten the republicans with accepting the legislature's budget if they didn't give in on the bridge taxes.  He also is playing the same sort of debt game as they are playing on the national level by refusing to recognize that there are ways to pay down the debt that don't demand it be wiped out this year to the great cost of human beings.
