The reworked, gimmicked-up budget appears set for the Governor's desk, after the Assembly passed the bill cutting the Redevelopment agencies.  But John Myers tweeted a rousing finale on those redevelopment arguments:
:

That looks 2 be it. Legislature, mostly but not all on Dem votes, approves #cabudget bills on time & off they go 2 Guv.

#Redevelopment debate in Assembly turns volatile. Wagner (R) seems 2 makes some sort of Mafia reference..Gatto (D) & Furutani (D) explode

Hard 2 see full #cabudget not going 2 Guv at this point. Assembly Dems can afford more defections on #redevelopment nix. But...

Nothing like a good mafia reference to get everybody's blood boiling, but it looks like everybody settled down and remebered that they are aging, out of shape dudes that weren't going to look anything but foolish.  Incidentally, my money would have been on Gatto in that little dispute.  He's young and agile.

I imagine that Brown is going to let the bills sit on his desk as he tries to play Houdini and cobble something together to get the budget he really wants.

Even though I find people like Sen. Bob Huff repulsive for his anti-gay views, but when private industry decides to go John Gault and fires their employees due to the burden of our state's government, we lose revenue.

How about getting BOE Member Runner and his wife Sen.Runner's idea about providing a penalty amnesty where people can pay off their back taxes w/o penalties for the next year to help us get some revenue.

I honestly do see a need for public services, but the goal is to prevent people from going Gault.

I think you mean "Galt". (4.00 / 1)
Miss Rand was a lesbian after all.  I find her writing uninspired, but perhaps that is because her observations seem so facile.

Now if your talking about Willie Gault...

However I did call my State Senator to maybe propose BOE Member Runner's idea of a state tax penalty amnesty period where people can pay their back taxes without penalties to help get our state some extra revenue.

I know our legislators want to get paid, but less Schwarzenegger styled solutions for a change.

I find it funny that Wagner makes a comment about a mafia shakedown and all the Italian Americans get bent out of shape, but when Rod Wright compares the bill to a "South Central bullit in the head" shake down, the African Americans in the chamber said nothing.

Because... (0.00 / 0)
A black person who has attained the level of the political class does not see  themselves as a member of the "South Central" community. Coming from a black background myself with two distinct family trees of Upper and Lower classes I can tell you it's a prevalent outlook.

As Chris Rock once said "Everything that white people hate about n#@@3%* black people REALLY hate about n#@@3%*!"

Hi. I'm Charles.  I worked my way from homelessness to a business owner.  Be what you have it in you to be!
