A Spanish language newspaper received an email from an employee at KNWZ 1140 AM which shows that Congresswoman Mary Bono approves of the term "Third World Toilet" when describing the city of Coachella.

He has a link to a scanned page from the local weekly, El Informador del Valle Indio

If that email really belongs to Rep. Bono, then she belongs far from public office, just as George "Macaca" Allen does. What a disgraceful crew. I posted it on dKos, too.

A commenter on Chapman's diary said he contacted CBS-2 News, and they were following up. We'll see what, if anything, comes of it.

If true, this will come as no surprise to one half of the district, but the nice conservatives of Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Palm Springs and Indian Wells may blanche at the nastiness. Though she masks it well, Bono is squarely on the Karl Rove/Rush Limbaugh team, and that should be better understood.

I was canvassing outside the Food4Less in Indio this afternoon with a fellow volunteer (Gary, old friend of David's), and our literature was gone in less than an hour. Very receptive shoppers. GOTV has been going on since April, really before. The CA-45th hasn't had a congressional campaign like this (Dem or GOP) with this much grassroots action in seventy five years. No one really knows what will happen.
